    A lot of clients are asking me whether they should buy a home before selling their own, and to answer correctly I will need to lay a few things out first. Buying a home before selling one will work for some people, but by and large, I do not recommend doing this. It’s a big financial risk, and can also get very complicated logistically.

    • I would recommend getting your current home under contract beforehand: Once you’ve done this you can begin searching for a new property. People often get swept up in looking for a new home, but you need to be patient.
    • Carrying Two Mortgages is a Burden: Dealing with two mortgages is a big financial risk and is also something that most people simply cannot handle. This is a strain that should be avoided at all costs.

    The best thing you can do in this scenario is to find a good realtor who can get your home sold quickly and also for a great price. At that point you can go and make an offer on a property that you really desire.
