Don’t be surprised if you see large groups of motorcycles zooming down the streets of Austin this weekend! The capital city of Texas is once again hosting the Republic of Texas Biker Rally from June 12-15.
This event, now simply called the “R.O.T. Rally,” is the largest motorcycle event in Texas and the largest turnstile (ticketed admission) motorcycle event in the nation. It has continued to grow since its inception in 1995.
The 2014 R.O.T. Rally is expected to draw over 200,000 spectators at the downtown parade and party on Friday night when the City of Austin closes Congress Avenue to traffic. Additionally, entertainment will be headlined by the Los Lonely Boys that same night for the ROT Biker Rally Downtown, presented by Austin 360 in the parking lot of the Austin American Statesman.
The main location for the event throughout the weekend is the Travis Exposition Center off of Decker Lane. Attractions include an Evel Knievel display, a motorcycle show, custom bike builders, stunt shows, comedians, musical entertainment on two stages, 300+ vendors, distributors, industry leaders and a 13 truck jump attempt by Doug Danger.
The number of motorcycles seen throughout the Austin area during the R.O.T. Rally weekend is truly a sight to behold.
However, because of a motorcycle’s small size, it can be easily hidden in another vehicle’s blind spot. Please, for the safety of all, take a second and third look before entering into oncoming traffic or changing lanes.
