The Texas Monthly BBQ Festival is this Sunday, September 14 from noon-4 p.m. where you can taste test the Top 50 BBQ Joints per Texas Monthly Magazine at The City Terrace at the Long Center, all the while enjoying the view of Lady Bird Lake and downtown Austin.
This annual event is in its fifth year and allows participants to sample delicious meats, sauces, sides and desserts from the best BBQ restaurants in the state of Texas. These leading pit masters will entice you with their mouthwatering wares, while Dale Watson and Eve and the Exiles musically entertain you throughout the afternoon.
Just some of the BBQ eateries will include Franklin BBQ, Lockhart Smokehouse, Black’s BBQ, Louie Mueller Barbeque, City Meat Market, Pecan Lodge, Pody’s BBQ and many, many more.
Purchasing tickets early is essential, as VIP tickets that permit entrance into the festival at noon on Sunday have already sold out. General admission tickets can be purchased online at Texas Monthly BBQ Festival Tickets for $80. Tickets for children 5 and under are $10 and all general admission ticket holders may enter the festival premises at 1 p.m.
According to the Texas Monthly BBQ Festival website, parking is available in the Palmer Events Center Parking Garage (900 Barton Springs Road) located between Riverside Drive, South First Street and Barton Springs Road, just south of Lady Bird Lake (cost: $7 per car, fee paid at booths upon entering garage).
The festival will include cash bars scattered throughout the venue for festival goers to purchase alcoholic drinks, along with soft drinks and bottled water.
The Texas Monthly BBQ Festival welcomes BBQ enthusiasts of all ages, but the festival will not have kid-friendly activities, so planning accordingly is necessary. Moreover, dogs will not be allowed on the festival grounds unless they are service dogs and coolers and chairs are prohibited, as well.
We hope you will enjoy the Texas flavor of BBQ in our fabulous city of Austin!
