Founded in 1983, The Austin’s Children’s Museum located in downtown Austin, Texas closed on September 1st of this year and has re-opened in the Mueller Community as The Thinkery this past weekend.
Along with donations, fundraisers and grants, the $18 million Thinkery project has come to fruition after six years of planning and offers Austin a one-of-a-kind facility to promote a future generation of creative problem solvers.
According to a Thinkery press release on June 4, 2013, “The 40,000 square foot facility will focus on ‘STEAM’ learning – science, technology, engineering, art, and math – as well as healthy living. The Thinkery will offer innovative exhibits along with new and improved programs for children ages 6 months to 11 years old and the adults in their lives.”
When you visit The Thinkery, be ready for an educational experience like none other! With revolving galleries, you can be assured that your encounter will be different no matter how often you visit.
Each of the 7+ exhibits encourages hands-on-learning and create an atmosphere where children and adults alike can imagine, explore, learn, invent and share.
The Thinkery is located at 1830 Simond Ave, Austin, Texas 78723 and is open Tuesday – Friday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, you can call 512.469.6200 or go to their website at https://thinkeryaustin.org.
